Wellness Place - 3K Walk & 5K Run for Cancer Support - May 16 at Harper College

The Wellness Place Community Cancer 3K Walk/5K Run is on Sunday, May 16 at Harper College in Palatine, IL. The walk/run will be followed by a celebration to include survivors and all those who have been touched by cancer. Registration will begin at 9am with the 5K Run kicking off at 10am. The 3K Walk will begin shortly after 10:30 am. The goal of the Wellness Place Community Cancer Walk is to raise awareness, celebrate survivors and remember loved ones.

A committee of dedicated volunteers is creating an event that celebrates survivors, remembers loved one and raises awareness on behalf of the value of support through a cancer experience. The day's highlights included kids activities, refreshments, music and remembrance ceremony. Event organizer Kara Williams says, "Having cancer yourself, caring for someone who has cancer, or losing someone to cancer are not easy things to live through. May 16th is a day to honor and celebrate all the people in our community who take on this journey with an incredible amount of strength and grace."

Proceeds from the event will benefit Wellness Place cancer-related counseling, education and support programs provided at no charge to survivors and their family, friends, and caregivers.
